I arrived in Romania in Bucharest and took a bus to Ploesti and then continued by train to the delightfully creepy old town of Brasov, in the Carpathian mountains in Transylvania. From the busy train station in the center of town, I took a local bus into "Old Town," the area where the hostel reportedly was. The town square where I exited the bus was incredibly dark and still and spooky. I wandered around looking for the hostel with a couple who'd been there before, and I'm really glad I had their help, because I never would've believed in a million years that this was the street I'd be staying on.
