Rorschach

Whew! This is just about the hardest pixelling I've ever done, I think. I took my static Rorschach from my set of Watchmen sprites and animated him doing a bunch of stuff: walking, punching, ducking, and a jumpkick. The walking part was by far the hardest, and I did that part last even though it appears first in the animation. Anyway, let's see, the walking cycle is ten frames, the punching cycle is four frames standing and four frames ducking, and the jumpkick is eight. The whole thing is eight colors, and Rorschach is about 29 pixels tall for most of it.

I did this mainly as a test to see if I'd be able to pull off all the required motions for an actual NES-style game. I guess the verdict is that I can, but when I imagine myself doing all this work for the main character AND all the enemies and bosses and power-up effects and then all the backgrounds and items and startup screen and ending sequence, I realize all that might just about kill me. This was a good experiment, but I don't think I'll be animating the rest of the gang or anything...
